Formula 1 has officially launched a new global marketing campaign titled Five Lights to mark the championship's return to competitive racing following the summer break. Built around a cinematic ninety-second promotional film, the campaign arrives just as teams and drivers begin preparations for the Dutch Grand Prix, establishing the narrative tone for the upcoming restart of track action.
Voiceover duties for the production have been handled by Colin Farrell, with the Academy Award-nominated actor narrating the piece from start to finish. Farrell’s measured delivery provides the narrative backbone across the run time, capturing the intensity and focus surrounding the paddock as the sport's mandatory mid-season shutdown draws to a close.
Visually, the ninety-second feature incorporates appearances from all twenty-two drivers currently competing on the Grand Prix grid. Rather than focusing exclusively on the championship leaders or frontrunning teams, the production weaves every active competitor into the footage ahead of the race weekend at Zandvoort.
Driving the musical landscape beneath Farrell’s narration is the track Reign by British electronic group UNKLE, featuring guest vocals from Ian Brown. The driving composition dictates the rhythm of the edit, matching the rising energy as the championship pivots from weeks of downtime back into the demands of high-speed racing.
The promotional film made its formal public debut on 16 August, arriving across global digital channels in advance of the paddock convening in the Netherlands. Rolling out the material ahead of opening practice allows the championship to build commercial anticipation before the cars turn their first laps of the race weekend.
Taking its name from the iconic starting gantry sequence that gets every Grand Prix underway, the Five Lights project provides a collective showcase for the entire grid. By featuring every driver on the current roster, the release underlines the sport's unified return following the strict factory shutdowns observed over the August pause.
With the summer break now concluding and the paddock gathering at Zandvoort, attention shifts directly to the competitive battles awaiting the field. Through Farrell’s voiceover, UNKLE’s soundtrack and the presence of all twenty-two drivers, Formula 1 has set the promotional stage for the second half of the racing year.
