Ferrari has taken its championship-winning 499P back to the track for an intensive testing programme at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza. The Maranello manufacturer used the historic Italian circuit to evaluate a series of fresh technical and aerodynamic configurations. This development cycle focuses directly on shaping the next iteration of the Hypercar ahead of the 2027 FIA World Endurance Championship campaign.
Four core factory drivers handled the workload during the single-day test. Antonio Fuoco, Antonio Giovinazzi, Alessandro Pier Guidi and Miguel Molina rotated behind the wheel to gather vital telemetry. Rather than chasing headline lap times, the team concentrated entirely on exploring new development directions and gathering comparative data across various setup options.
The 499P remains one of the defining machines of the current Hypercar era. Since its competitive debut at Sebring in 2023, the prototype has accumulated a dominant record. That resume includes seven race victories, twenty-four podium finishes, nine pole positions and three consecutive triumphs at the 24 Hours of Le Mans from 2023 through 2025. That sustained run of success culminated in Ferrari capturing both the Manufacturers' and Drivers' World Championship crowns in 2025.
Despite that enviable trophy cabinet, engineers in Maranello are treating past achievements merely as a baseline for future progress. Endurance racing punishes standing still, and the factory development programme reflects that reality. Several aerodynamic and mechanical solutions are currently under close assessment before the car faces its final homologation phase for 2027.
Every kilometre logged at Monza translates into driver feedback and data points designed to keep the Prancing Horse at the sharp end of the grid. Ferrari understands that prior dominance guarantees nothing when competitors are constantly refining their own packages. The team's approach mirrors the unforgiving nature of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where every edition resets the competitive order.
Before the 2027 development focus takes full effect, the current specification of the 499P still has business to finish in the ongoing championship. Monza will serve as the venue for the final round of the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship season, with the season-ending race scheduled for Sunday, 8 November.
